Leigh Baker - Director
Hello, My name is Leigh Baker and I am so blessed and excited to begin this journey with St. Elijah's as their Director of Mom's Day Out. My husband Brian and I live in Edmond with our four beautiful children. We have been blessed with three beautiful girls ages 16, almost 8, and 2, and one handsome boy who is now 6.
I graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma with a Bachelors degree in Psychology then went on to pursue my Masters degree in Education. I worked several years in administrative capacities in mental health and long term care settings before taking a position with the Oklahoma State Department of Health as a Health Planning Specialist. In November of 2000, my husband and I decided together that it was time to leave the State Department and to begin the most rewarding yet one of the hardest full-time jobs of my life - "stay-at-home" mom (although I don't remember a time when we ever just stayed home) When I was ready to return to work, I began part-time in the nursery at Church of the Servant. This provided me with an excellent opportunity to ease my way back into the work world without totally turning my children's worlds upside down. I am now the Assistant Coordinator for their Nursery Program, and last year after seeing the need, both in the congregation and in my own family, having a son of our own with special needs, I helped to develop and now Coordinate the Sunbeams Ministry for children with special needs. I have truly loved working with the families and children and feel that it is what I am being called to do here at St. Elijah's. It is my belief that just as each child is unique in personality, growth and learning styles, so should our teachings be.
