THE HAURAN CONNECTION

Did you know that our Diocese of Wichita and Mid-America has a sister?  Last year we entered into a special relationship with the Archdiocese of Bosra-Hauran in Syria, our sister diocese.  This relationship is called "The Hauran Connection."  In the next several bulletins you'll have the opportunity to get to know our "sister."

The Archdiocese of Bosra is ancient.  In Roman times it was known as the Province of Arabia Petraea.  After St. Paul's conversion and baptism in Damascus, he spent his first three years as a Christian there (Galatians 1:15-18).  The Church of Bosra was founded in the first century through the preaching of the Apostle Timon, who was one of the first deacons (Acts 6:5).  He served as its first bishop.
