Great LentThe traditional fast in Lent is to abstain from meat, fish, dairy products, and alcoholic beverages (though alcohol is permitted in moderation on weekends). CONFESSION. Orthodox Christians should make a sacramental confession during Great Lent in preparation for Pascha. Please do not put this off until the last minute. Misson of St. ElijahThe mission of St. Elijah Orthodox Christian Church is to tell a lost world of the salvation available through Jesus Christ and help those who are being saved on their journey toward becoming more like Christ by gathering sacramentally as the Church and together participating in the sacramental life of the coming Kingdom of God. St. Elijah Antiochian Orthodox Christian Church is one of over 200 churches and missions throughout the United States and Canada under The Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of North America led by His Eminence Metropolitan PHILIP Saliba. We are part of the Diocese of Wichita and Mid-America under His Grace Bishop BASIL Essey. We are in full communion with our brothers and sisters in various other Orthodox Christian jurisdictions, such as the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America and the Orthodox Church in America, and are all affiliated through SCOBA (the Standing Conference of Canonical Orthodox Bishops of the Americas.) Together we work to nurture the Orthodox Christians of this land−whether immigrants or native-born, cradle Orthodox, or converts--and to bring America to the ancient Orthodox Christian Faith. |
